O edifício Polomes, do início do século XX, localizado numa situação de gaveto no centro histórico de Torres Vedras, virado para a entrada norte da cidade, para o seu rio Sizandro, apresenta piso térreo e primeiro andar. No piso térreo encontram-se três armazéns, um deles a antiga fábrica do café Novo Dia; o hall de entrada que dá acesso, através de uma escada singular em caracol, ao primeiro piso. O primeiro piso é composto por uma sucessão de quartos com acesso a partir de um longo corredor que atravessa a habitação longitudinalmente.
A proposta mantém a habitação do primeiro piso procurando, através da sua reabilitação, virar a sua vivência para o terraço a poente com vista privilegiada para o castelo. O piso térreo transforma-se em vários apartamentos open-space, propondo a sua adaptação às necessidades dos novos conceitos de ‘habitabilidade’.
O novo edifício procura responder à identidade arquitetónica que já o caracteriza, bem como à identidade do centro histórico em que se insere, assegurando várias tipologias de habitação, com o objetivo de tirar partido do potencial do edifício para a habitação.

The Polomes building, from the early twentieth century, located in a corner situation in the historic center of Torres Vedras, facing the northern entrance of the city, to its Sizandro river, presents groung floor and first floor. On the ground floor there are three warehouses, one of them the old Novo Dia coffee factory, and the entrance hall that gives access, through a singular spiral staircase, to the upper floor. The firstd floor consists of a succession of rooms with access from a long corridor that crosses the dwelling lengthwise.
The proposal keeps the dwelling upstairs, seeking, through its rehabilitation, to turn its living space towards the terrace to the west with a privileged view of the castle. The first ground floor is transformed into several open-space apartments, proposing its adaptation to the needs of the new concepts of 'habitability'.
The new building seeks to respond to the architectural identity that already characterizes it, as well as the identity of the historic center in which it is inserted, ensuring various types of housing, with the aim of taking advantage of the potential of the building for housing.
