Integrada na malha medieval da vila de Marvão, na Rua do Castelo, encontra-se esta habitação de dois pisos que remonta a uma antiguidade sem data, com terraço e um pátio a tardoz com vista deslumbrante e serena sobre a zona Raiana do Alto Alentejo.

O programa procura melhorar e potenciar a habitabilidade dos seus espaços tornando-os autónomos para uma utilização turística. O piso térreo oferece uma generosa zona de estar e convívio com cozinha comum e um quarto, com acesso ao terraço e jardim. No piso superior encontram-se três unidades independentes onde se procurou assumir este tipo de programa contemporâneo através da introdução de um elemento ‘caixa’ que comporta as funcionalidades de instalação sanitária e kitchenette.

Ou seja, o ‘tempo antigo’ é respeitado, a casa é totalmente reabilitada sem que sejam tocadas as suas paredes mestras ou os vãos de porta interiores ou as fachadas, há a substituição e manutenção dos elementos construtivos existentes através de técnicas e materiais locais. Deste modo o ‘tempo de hoje’ não fere o que lá existe mas antes ‘pousa’, ‘assenta’ e convive com essa existência.

Integrated in the medieval structure of the village of Marvão, in Rua do Castelo, is this two-storey house that dates back to an undated antiquity, with a terrace and a patio at the back with a breathtaking and serene view over the Raiana area of Alto Alentejo.

The program seeks to improve and enhance the habitability of its spaces making them autonomous for tourist use. The first floor offers a generous living and socializing area with a common kitchen and a bedroom, with access to the terrace and garden. On the upper floor there are three independent units where we sought to assume this type of contemporary program through the introduction of a 'box' element that includes the functionalities of sanitary installation and kitchenette.

In other words, the 'old time' is respected, the house is totally rehabilitated without touching its master walls or the interior doorways or the facades, there is the replacement and maintenance of the existing constructive elements through local techniques and materials. In this way the 'time of today' does not hurt what exists there but rather 'lands', 'settles' and inhabits that existence.
